Chicken in a Yogurt-Paprika Sauce
Summer is here my friends. I just love it, don’t you? I am trying to be outside as much as possible and I along with my son planted also our tomatoes, cucumbers and peppers. I am showing you some pictures. They are small plants but they will grow and I hope in two months we will be able to enjoy their fruits.
My son told me that, if I was going to write about our plants in this blog, I should mention that he has done all the hard work and should give him credit for this. So, I must admit that, indeed, he has planted all vegetables by himself. I only guided him how to do it and afterwards I watered them. There, I just gave him all the credit he wanted lol.
I was trying to figure out what I was going to feed my family with and I stumbled to yet another one recipe of Vangelis Driskas -a very famous Greek chef- for a Chicken cooked in goulash style infused with yogurt.
Goulash is a winter dish but the addition of yogurt in this one makes it appropriate even for warmer days. Chicken is a very versatile meat and goes perfectly with almost anything. As I expected, it was delicious and I immediately added it to my ‘favorite dishes’ file!
Chicken in a Yogurt-Paprika Sauce
Ingredients
1.400 gr. /3 lb. chicken breasts cut in cubes
1 onion chopped
2 garlic cloves minced
4 tbsp olive oil
1 red and 1 orange pepper cut in slices
½ cup white wine
1 tbsp Hungarian paprika
1 cup water
1 cup Greek yogurt
Fresh parsley for garnishing
Salt and pepper
Instructions
In a frying pan in medium heat sauté the chicken pieces with the onion slices, the garlic and the olive oil until they will get a light brown color.
Throw the peppers and continue to sauté until they will become soft.
Pour the wine, salt and pepper and the paprika and reduce heat to low.
Add 1 cup of water and let it boil for about an hour.
Throw the yogurt let it boil for another 5 minutes and remove from stove.
Garnish with fresh parsley.
You can accompany it with rice or even pasta!
I am sending this to Full Plate Thursday hosted by Miz Helen!

Katerina, your son is awesome! I am just so bad in garden work. So I really admire him. You are such a good mom to help and encourage him to plant vegetables. Please tell him he did an awesome job! I am sure both of you will be thrilled when harvest time comes.
Love your chicken dish. Would be so good with rice. Love how you present it in individual spoons!
The yogurt paprika sauce sounds incredibly good! I bet it makes the chicken all nice and tender and juicy. Your son did good work! I wish you lived close by – I’d hire him to help me!
Your son deserves a pat on the back for his hard work with the gardening. I just love getting fresh herbs for my cooking and it makes a world of difference in taste. This looks very moist and of course flavorful.
Thanks for your comment on my tuna dish and I hope you saw the grilled mahi one too. When you are trying to eat well and cut calories, fish meals can make all the difference!
The presentation is amazing and the recipe is easy to follow. And base on what i saw here this it look so delicious.

As for the chicken dish, looks delicious and very flavorful…I just now started to cook with yogurt, and love it!
Hope you are having a great week my dear!

That’s great that your son did so much work in the garden
Looks great! As does this delicious dish! It’s similar to the chicken paprikash I grew up with but looks even better.
Your garden is absolutely lovely, Katerina! I think it’s wonderful that your son has been helping with it — tell him congrats on a job well done!
The chicken looks fantastic, very rich and flavorful. I could eat this any time!

This looks right down my alley! Anything with a yogurt sauce … I like!
And thanks for coming over to my blog to visit
Your chicken presentation is absolutely fabulous, Katerina! And it sounds delicious. The yogurt instead of sour cream in the sauce is a super idea.
Love that your son wanted a little gardening credit!
Happy Mother’s Day to you!
Delicious & flavorful chicken, looks fantastic! Loved the presentation, who wouldn’t want one! Congratulations on your awards, and thank you for your kind words
Awesome sauce, thank you! Miriam@Meatless Meals For Meat Eaters

Dear Katerina, This looks simply wonderful. I am sure your family enjoyed every bite.
Have a beautiful weekend. Blessings dear. Catherine xo
Your recipe looks fantastic and I love those fancy tasting spoons
Congratulations for the awards!
The chicken dish reminds me of the Hungarian chicken with paprika, but it’s a lighter version with yogurt replacing cream. It looks gorgeous and light. Perfect for the hot summer you must have in Greece now.
Love your garden pictures and the chicken looks delicious! We love paprika chicken but haven’t had a saucy version. It will be a toss up who wins the accompanying starch, the kids would prefer noodles and daddy always likes rice.
Now I’ll have to pick up a quantity of good Hungarian paprika since I run out so frequently.
That looks so delicious. It doesn’t look heavy and perfect for a summer dinner. My family would love this.
What a yummy chicken dish, Katerina! I love the look of it!
Happy Mother’s Day to you!
And nice garden you have there…your son did a good job! You’re one lucky mom!
The chicken dish looks delicious! I love your serving spoons and platter
Your garden is ahead of mine – we won’t put out tomatoes until the end of the month but I’m getting exciting!
Katerina, This looks like a delectable dish! Your photos are gorgeous!
Love your garden photos…that’s what I’m doing today…planting my garden! Have a great day!
I love the sound of that sauce! Paprika is such a great seasoning for it!
Your son is really funny! But he’s pretty impressive to plant all of them!! I am jealous of your garden now. Deer usually eat everything we plant so my backyard was like dessert until we put fake turf…. It’s really nice one but still I wish we have real nice gardens… Your chicken looks wonderful. Totally new way of cooking chicken for me and I’m intrigued! Looks wondeful!
Oh, my! These really look exceptionally rich and delicious
I love the idea of using yogurt in this dish, since chicken paprika is a family favourite. I enjoyed your post!
I really love the idea of making this dish with yogurt, since paprika chicken is a family favourite. I enjoyed your post!
Summer is not here yet,but we can definitely eat all yummy dishes that are meant for summer or winter. This chicken of yours wrapped in yogurt looks delicious. Can I use any pepper or this hungarian paprika has some flavor in it?
Mmmmm…I love this combination of flavors! Perfect dinner for my family. I am so envious of your garden…my sunny patch is only big enough for a few herbs.
These little morsels look delicious! Really nice presentation.
Ο γιος σου έφαγε τουλάχιστον από αυτό το νόστιμο πιάτο της μαμάς μετά την κηπουρική;
Πολύ εντυπωσιακό και εξαιρετικά παρουσιασμένο.
Καλό Σ/Κ και χρόνια σου πολλά για την Κυριακή!

I love chicken paprikash and my boyfriend’s recipe is quite close to this except for his doesn’t have the yogurt and wine. I can only imagine what a great addition to the dish those two ingredients are. Your son is quite the helper, isn’t he?

The tasting spoons like delicious!
Looks so tasty and flavorful and perfect for a springy chicken dish. I will have to try this!
Τέλειο το φαγητό σου Κατερίνα μου… θα το φτιάξω την Κυριακή.
This looks fantastic. I have made this paprika sauce using sour cream. But now that we can get good Greek yogurt, there is no reason for sour cream! I just made a potato salad with a Greek yogurt dill sauce. That yogurt is what makes it so good.

I have had chicken paprikash before, but it had a little sour cream in it. Seeing your recipe here, does make me think that the switch to yogurt is a better version. I like the step by step photos and the final presentation is awesome. Glad to stop in and see this!
