Homemade Lady’s Fingers or a Quick Sweet Fix

Lady Fingers

Η συνταγή και στα ελληνικά στο τέλος της ανάρτησης!

During Christmas I wanted to make a Millefeuille for some friends who were coming over for dinner. I was under the impression that I had some puff pastry  lady’s fingers in my pantry and so I didn’t include them in my shopping list. Unfortunately, very late I realized that the lady’s fingers I had, had already expired and thus I wouldn’t be able to use them.

Now you realize that when you have made plans for specific food and these plans fail especially when you expect people coming over, it is a pain in the neck. I had to completely alter my schedule and find something else to make as a sweet.

Lady Fingers

Just the other day as I was thinking what to do with a leftover puff pastry sheet sitting in my freezer, I realized that I could have used it to make the millefeuille, how stupid of me right? Well, I live to learn and so I made them one afternoon that my son wanted something sweet and I had nothing at home.

Lady Fingers

Extremely easy to make, you can either cut them in strips if you want them as lady’s fingers or you can cut them in squares if you want to munch them as sweet little bites. You can accompany them with apple preserves or you can make a simple, quick cream and top them with it.

They are very easy to make and they are so quick. All you have to do is to start preheating your oven and in the meantime you prepare the bites. It all takes about 45 minutes from start to end and most of it is the time they are baked.

Interesting that it’s puffed pastry in the photo but they look soft and fluffy. Maybe the extra butter? However, they easy treats do look like something I would thoroughly enjoy.
